Items on the agenda:

1. We have a gig in Nottingham next week (Tuesday 20th April) at the Maze. Not sure who else is playing yet, and alas the venue are having probs with their website so the gig listing hasn't been updated. There is a Facebook event for this, so I'm guessing details will be added to that as and when they become available.

2. Non-Nottingham dwellers can now read our review in the current issue of LeftLion by clicking the download link at the bottom of this page.

3. We're going into the recording studio this weekend to record some new songs. This is exciting. Grins are being worn, reading material is being amassed, guitar parts are being revised and lyrics are being written. Maybe there'll be some kind of exciting 'report from the studio' on here next week, detailing in intimate detail the microwave meals consumed and catchphrases coined.

4. Last week we got locked in our practice room by a pair of 14 year old girls. This was as amusing and it was annoying. After 45 minutes of attempting to disassemble the door in order to escape we were rescued. Then we put the door back together.

End of March already? Blimey! Anyway, Nottingham dwellers may be interested in picking up a copy of the April-May LeftLion in which (amongst many other excellent articles) you can read a most complimentary review of our 2008 EP 'Drones & Sharp Teeth'.

For non-Nottingham dwellers we'll post a link to the review up here as soon as it's published on the LeftLion website.

In the meantime, we're busy writing still, and April will see us hitting the studio and playing our first gig in Nottingham for a while - will put the details on here when it's all official.

Cancelled Gig // Photos // Review

Hi Dudes,

Been a hectic couple of weeks playing gigs - thanks to everyone who's come out to see us, we've had a wicked time. Unfortunately our gig in Nottingham this Thursday has been cancelled but will hopefully be rescheduled at a later date. Sorry if you were planning on coming along, we were really looking forward to playing but hey ho, we'll be back! We're hoping to line up another series of gigs as soon as we can so look out for news on those. Also, check out the photos below of us on our October adventures.

We're hoping to get a video of us playing live in Wakefield at the Snooty Fox online at some point this week, so look out for that.

Another good review of our new single (available to download for free here) came in from Roomthirteen. "A great single from an obviously talented home grown band" was the verdict, but check out the full review by clicking here.

Mini-tour Starts Tonight // More Gigs // Another Review

We're playing the first in our small series of gigs tonight in Wycombe, our first visit to said town. Should be wicked fun, practice has sounded good. Here's a picture of the rhythm section hard at work:

Minor Changes to the New Single

Hi,

First off, thanks to everyone who's downloaded the new single so far - hope you're enjoying it. Some people have had a few issues downloading the single and as a result we've made a few changes to the way it is available - here they are:

1. The single is now available for free from our bandcamp page as 320kbps mp3 files including a pdf artwork. There are also various other high quality formats available from the bandcamp page, all of which are also free. The previously available 128kbps mp3 option has been removed due to changes to the services offered by bandcamp.

2. Due to there being no charge for any of the versions of the single available from our bandcamp page you will no longer be prompted to pay for the single. You will simply be asked for your email address to which a download link will be sent.

3. Your email address will be added to our mailing list from which you can unsubscribe at any time by emailing thousandsofreflections@hotmail.co.uk with the subject 'unsubscribe'. If you choose to stay on the mailing list you'll get occasional missives from us about ToR related stuff!

4. If you downloaded the 128kbps version feel free to download the new high quality version. You'll be asked for your email address again but won't be added to our mailing list multiple times.

5. If you're desperate to pay for a copy of the single, you can do this via the iTunes Store.

6. If you have a question that hasn't been addressed here then please contact us at thousandsofreflections@hotmail.co.uk and we'll do our best to help. Like the Teenage Mutant Hero/Ninja Turtles would've done.

Hi everyone, hope all is well.

We're releasing a download only double-A sided single on 1st October called 'Sawhooks and Chains | Call Me Ishmael' featuring two songs recorded recently with Guy Elderfield at Random Recordings in Nottingham.

The single is reviewed in today's Nottingham Evening Post and got 4 stars out of 5. You can check out the review online here or buy the paper and take a look at page 9 Essential Guide.

More details of the release itself are to follow, but in the meantime you can stream the tracks at our myspace page.

Hi there dudes,

We're still working away in our practice room and flats around Nottingham trying to write as many awesome songs as possible. It's going well, plenty of harmonies and important discussions about how to play the perfect two beat silence. Just thought I'd check in here to upload some (non) action packed pictures of the practice room which I thought were pretty cool. You'll notice that Bruce Willis takes pride of place in the room, he's been a big influence on our music. Expect the next album to be dubbed Yippe-Ki-Yay or somesuch!

Serious Looking Young Men

Hello everyone! There we are above, concentrating hard. We were probably playing a new song! Cheers to Karen Wintle for taking some sweet photos of us at our last gig. You can see some more photos of the gig on Karen's flickr page.

It was a fun night, so thanks for everyone who came to see us. You can re-live the experience by checking out this video of us playing another new song which is known as 'Ishmael'. It's actually called 'Call Me Ishmael' but we can never be bothered to introduce it properly live.

Progress on new songs continues apace and things will probably be pretty quiet until later in the year when we've emerged from the practice room with a load of new material. In the meantime I'll be trying to upload as much interesting stuff up here as I can get away with, and we'll also be playing the odd gig here and there!

Lions, Pods and Bottoms.

Hello webchums!

ToR have been featured in the latest stupod podcast. The podcast is produced in association with LeftLion, which is a fine publication available freely in our fair home city of Nottingham.

You'll notice that (our new drummer) James' other band Ocean Bottom Nightmare have two songs on the thing and thus James' presence dominates the 'cast. A scary thought.

You can download or stream the podcast from here should you so wish!

In other news, our good friends and practice room-mates Swound! seem to swiftly be becoming the biggest band in the world. Make sure you check out the latest issue of Rock Sound for a sweet feature on them. Also, the technical difficulties re: iTunes should be sorted soon.

Yo,

We've got our first (sort of warm-up) gig of 2009 sorted at the reborn Seven in Nottingham on 18th February. Having played at the previous incarnation of Seven about a million times it'll be interesting to see how different, if at all, the new venue is. It should be fun, and at least one new ToR song will be played so I'd thoroughly recommend attendance. Full details are on the new Seven website.

We're planning on lining up some more gigs in the next few months but for the moment we're concentrating on writing new stuff, something we didn't manage to do much of last year. Embryonic plans for 2009 have been formed, and hopefully some of those will come to fruition before the end of February. As ever, expect updates as and when these plans unfold!

In other news, I've been told that ToR seem to have disappeared from iTunes. I'm not entirely sure what's happened there, but hopefully it'll be a temporary.

You may remember back in April that we filmed a video. Well, shortly after that Olly the drummer left the band, and the video went unfinished. It was 90% done though, so the decision has been taken at ToR HQ to share it with the world, and so here it is.

It was filmed at our practice room, and out and about in Adam's car driving round Nottingham on a Friday night. I hope you like it.

Hello there! This is a review of our EP which is in this month's Rock Sound and has been expertly scanned by Joe from Swound! We're pretty pleased with it, though it is interesting to compare their version of our past with the real story.

I apologise to any fans of The Horrors, The Raconteurs or The White Stripes who have landed here expecting something similar and left angry and disappointed. I'm not that sorry though if I'm honest; your anger and disappointment amuses me!

We've had some other reviews for our EP (some of them for the original release so they only half count) and I thought I may as well link them up:

There is one total stinker somewhere out there, but conveniently I couldn't find it so if you'll have to do the googlin' yourselves if you want to find it!

I just discovered that Chi Cheng from deftones is in a coma after a car accident. All at ToR Towers wish him a speedy recovery.

Brief Update!

Hello again,

Busy times of late:

First, the EP. 'Drones & Sharp Teeth' is already available to buy from a couple of European sites as far as I can tell - namely this one (CDGO) and this one (Lapis Electronics) - and by next week it will be available to buy from here on our slightly revamped website. There'll be a couple of of nice new features on the site too so remember to swing by next week some time. The 'Drones' Tour starts in October (with a sort of warm up type gig this Friday in Derby) and we're all looking to visiting some places we've not seen before and playing to new people. With a bit of luck we'll be unleashing some new material too....

Second: We've been in the studio this weekend recording a couple of new tracks which are going to be made available in reasonably exciting fashion to tie in with the release of the EP. It was fun, tiring, frustrating and entertaining as recording always seems to be. Mostly it was fun though. We didn't quite finish what we set out to do so we'll have to go back in the next couple of weeks and apply the finishing touches. It was sounding good when we left the studio at 3am on Monday morning and hopefully you'll like the new tracks when you hear them...

...and finally; shortly before the last news update Olly was forced to leave the band to pursue an equally exciting yet more stable and financially rewarding career in science. Unaware of his own genius he applied for a dream job he never thought he'd get and ended up being offered it.

We're currently playing with James from OBN who will hopefully fill Olly's boots permanently. It was a shame that Olly had to leave but as one door closes another opens, and it's been great fun so far having James in the band. James played on the recording this weekend and will be drumming for us at least until the end of our 'Drones & Sharp Teeth' duties and hopefully beyond.

Headroom Records

We have signed a deal with Headroom Records! Hazaa!

Drones and Sharp Teeth will go on general release through Headroom Records on 3 November 2008. It should be sweet.We will be playing lots of gigs, writing lots of tunes and hopefully be releasing a super awesome album on Headroom next year.

We've been busy doing secret things. We're playing a couple of gigs shortly, one in Derby next Monday and a very exciting gig in Nottingham for the Pilgrim Fathers' album launch. In my excitement I've stuck the flyer below for everyone to see.

The video is nearly finished and edited and will make it's official debut here in the coming weeks. It's looking pretty good so far....

We had another gig last night, which again went really well and we made some new friends in los and Car Crash Television who both played really strong sets, as did fellow Nottingham ninjas and Stars Collide. It was a great night so thanks to anyone who made it down.

New things

Hi there, welcome to the new (sort of work in progress) site for ToR! We hope you like it and enjoy your stay. All the usual links are above this bit, and also our upcoming gigs are displayed handily to the right.

A bit of recent history - Dan left the band before Christmas. He will be missed. James - of our good friends OBN - played a couple of great gigs with us shortly after Dan left the band and we fixed up a proper replacement earlier this year. Taking Dan's place on four-string and vocal duties is Simon Curd who also plays in Nottingham/Derby band Dragonflies Draw Flame who may or may not have split up. They change their mind every week. Here is the new line-up taking a hard earned break during practice a couple of weeks ago.

We played our first gig with Simon at Junktion7 earlier this month with the Kull and OBN and it was great to get back in the swing of things. We've been busy getting ready for some more gigs with the new lad and writing some new songs. There's also some potentially very exciting news on the horizon but I can reveal no more just yet!
